Visitor Visa and eTA

Visitor Visa and eTA

Canada is the most popular tourist destination for people around the world. If you plan to visit Canada for tourism purposes, you require a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). A visitor visa, also known as a temporary resident visa (TRV), is a document that allows foreign nationals to enter Canada for a limited period of time. The duration of your stay in Canada as a tourist will be determined by a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer at the port of entry, and it’s usually up to six months. To apply for a visitor visa, you will need to submit an application, pay the required fee, and provide supporting documents such as your passport, travel itinerary, and proof of funds etc. The processing time for visitor visa applications can vary, but it is recommended to apply well in advance of your intended travel dates. An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. An eTA is electronically linked to a traveller’s passport. It is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new eTA. An eTA also allows entry of foreign nationals into Canada for up to six months at a time.
